THE ACCIDENTAL RELEASE PREVENTION AND EMERGENCY POLICIES FOR FARMER'S FEED AND GRAIN COMPANY, INC. 
 
 
This facility complies with ANSI requirements for Anhydrous Ammonia, and it is our plicy to adhere to all aplicable Federal, State, and Local laws.  If an emergency were to occur it is our policy to notify the Riceville Fire Department and request that they respond to the emergency. 
 
This facility is a local elevator that deals with feed, seed, fertilizer, and chemicals.  Our fertilizer department offers anhydrous ammonia for sale to the public.  The anhydrous ammonia storage consists of one 30,000 gallon storage tank and associated piping, valves, pump, and other miscellaneous equipment.  Our worst case s 
cenario is failure of one 30,000 gallon storage tank when filled to the greatest amount allowed resulted in a gas release.  According to EPA look-up tables, the distance to the endpount is 4.4 miles.  There are several private homes, businesses, school, nursing home, golf course, and county park within the distance to the endpoint, with a total population of 780 people. 
 
The general accidental release prevention program and chemical-specific prevention steps.  This facility complies with accident prevention rule and all applicable State and Local codes and regulations.  The ammonia system is designed, installed, and maintained in accordance with all State and Local rules and regulations. 
 
Five year accident history.  We have never had an accident involving ammonia that caused death, injuries, property or environmental damage, evacuations, or shelterings in place. 
 
The emergency response program.  In the event of an emergency involving our ammonia system, it is our policy to notify the  
Riceville Fire Department and local LEPC and request they respond to the emergency.  We have discussed this with the Fire Department: members of the Fire department have inspected our ammonia plant system. 
 
Planned changes to improve safety  -  None at this time.
