Inspection and maintenance of all NH3 tanks, valves, piping, and hoses is done on a daily basis to insure 
proper working of equipment. All employees are certified by the Illinois Department of Agriculture in the 
safe handling and proper maintenance of anhydrous ammonia and all equipment involved in loading and 
transporting product. 
 In case of an accidental release of anhydrous ammonia, emergency plans are implemented by alerting 
the proper authorities: the local fire department, EPA,Illinois Department of Agriculture. Public safety would 
be the first concern. Wind direction and other weather related factors would be evaluated in case 
evacuation of residents would be deemed necessary. The officer in charge of the local Emergency 
Planning Committee [Williamsville ESDA] would be in control of all emergency operations.
