City of Atlanta Wastewater Treatment Facility - Executive Summary

| Accident History | Chemicals | Emergency Response | Registration | Source | Executive Summary |

Our facility is located on the southwest edge of the city.  The treatment plant is a 4 MGD sequential batch reactor that employs chlorine as a final disinfectant prior to discharge into Black Bayou.  We currently maintain on site (4) 1 ton chlorine cylinders.  There are manual shutoff valves and audio alarm detection devices on the chlorine system.
At this time we are reviewing our operational and safety procedures.  An emergency response plan is being drafted for the facility.
By January 2001 we hope to reduce our inventory of chlorine on site to a maximum of (1) 1 ton cylinder.
