The manager of Schafer Fertilizer, Inc. at Wellsville is a trained Medical First Responder and a member of the Fire Department. The Fire Department is trained annually on the hazards of anhydrous ammonia and how to response to any accidents involving it. Our facility will start parking 1000 g. anhydrous ammonia nurse tanks at this location begining 1 oct. 2000. These tanks are used in the delivery of anhydrous to our customers. 1000 g. were used in our worst case scenario and alternate release scenario. Being in a rural area are worst case scenario would travel 1 mile and no population would be affected. We have had no accidents in the past five years. The manager gives the local police numberous tous throghout the year of our facilities and keeps the Fire Department informed of any chages or updates that takes place. |
