The Marion Generating Station is a coal fired power plant that uses chlorine to disinfect its once though cooling water. The power station keeps 8000 pounds of chlorine on site. The station is in compliance with all applicable OSHA and EPA regulations regarding chlorine and has implemented and maintained an Employee Safety Training program that addresses safe handling and release prevention of chlorine. 
 
There have been no reportable accidents involving chlorine in the last five years. 
 
The facility has an emergency response plan that coordinates with the Marion, llinois Fire Department. 
 
There are no current plans to improve safety procedures involving chlorine.
