Every effort is made to prevent an accident release or  danger from our supply of propane.  We are in the process of completing our Risk Management Plant at this writitng.  We will instill an emergency repsone policy that is deemed responsible. 
 
Gelder & Associates, Inc. is a manufacturer of asphalt surface mix to sell and laydown asphalt as we are an asphalt paving general contractor.  We have a 30,000-gallon tank on site.  We use propane to heat the drum used in mixing the mateirals for the product.  We have manufactured about 100 tons of product each year for the past three years.  We installed the current plant in mid-1996. 
 
Our worst-case scenario was model from information learned at the Chemical Accident Prevention and Risk Managemet Program Training seminar on January 26, 1999 held in Raleigh, North Carolina.  If our tank exploded at capacity (85% of 30,000 gallons), we calcula 
te that .38 mile will be impacted.  In that radius, pulbic receptors are Wake Community College, a strip shopping center, and several residences.  We believe that 387 people would be affected.  Fairview Fire Department is no more than  two mile away from our facility.  Our LP tank is inspected each day by plant management. 
 
Gelder & Associates, Inc. strives to comply with OSHA and Wake County Fire Marshal regulations in our prevention program.  The fire marshal visits regulalry to see that we are in compliance. 
 
Gelder & Associates, Inc. is proud that it has not had an accident in the 46 years that it has been in operation..Each year improvments have been made to our safety efforts. 
 
Wake County has required us to have an inventory, location map of inventory, and MSDS information in a locked fireproof box at the entrance to our facility.  We have regular meetings with Fairview Fire Department personnel to learn from them and to keep them updated of any changes made at our facility.

lder & Associates, Inc. is always striving to improve safety in all aspects of our operation.  We recently hired an insurance constultat to advise on matters of safety.  Our insurance carrier provides a safety counsel that we use, also.  Preparing this report has made us aware of things that can be improved.  We hope to start the implementation of any new programs in November, 1999.  The nature of our buisness dictates that we plan projects from November through March.
