The anhydrous ammonia bulk tank area Should be inspected daily. Tanks and the tank area should be thoroughly checked to make sure that the tanks and all connections, valves, hoses and guages are in good operating condition. 
Personal protective equipment should be in place, in proper condition and ready to use. First aid water tank should be kept full of fresh clean water. 
Nurse tanks need to be checked for over all condition (leaks, cracks, dents, ect.) before being filled.  
Hoses, valves, connections, safety relief valves and safety chains should be in proper working order. 
Running gear should be checked to assure the transportation of anhydrous will be without mishap. 
Check the first aid water tank on nurse trailers to make sure it is full of fresh clean water. 
 
IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT OR ACCIDENTAL SPILL THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURES MUST BE FOLLOWED!

You must make a judgment call! If the situation is severe call the Fire Department first then the facilities emergency coordinator. Stay Calm! Speak in a clear calm voice. Provide the dispatcher with the information that emergency responders will need to know when responding to the situation. If there are injuries tell the dispatcher to the best of your ability what they are so medical teams can be put on st 
and-by. DO NOT allow anyone in the immediate area. Remember YOU ARE IN COMMAND OF THE SCENE UNTIL THE EMERGENCY COORDINATOR OR INCIDENT COMMANDER ARRIVES TO RELIVE YOU!

INHALATION-- WEARING RESPIRATOR AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHING GET PERSON OUT OF CONTAMINATED AREA INTO FRESH AIR. IF BREATHING HAS STOPPED RESUSCIATE AND ADMINISTER OXYGEN. SEEK MEDICAL ATTEN IMMEDATELY. 
 
SKIN CONTACT--FLUSH AREA WITH LARGE AMOUNTS OF WATER FOR AT LEAST 15 MINUTES. REMOVE CONTAMINATED CLOTHING, FOOT WEAR AND JEWELRY IMMEDATELY. CLOTHING STUCK TO SKIN SHOULD NOT BE REMOVED. DONOT RUB OR APPLY PRESSURE TO EFFECTED AREA. SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDATELY. 
 
EYES---FLUSH EYES WITH LARGE AMOUNTS OF FRESH WATER FOR AT LEAST 15 MINUTES HOLDING EYE LIDS APART TO ENSURE FLUSHING ENTIRE EYE SURFACE. IT IS IMPORTANT TO FLUSH EYES IMMEDATELY OR SEVERE DAMMAGE OR BLINDNESS MAY RESULT. SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION I 
MMEDATELY. 
 
INGESTION--NEVER GIVE ANYTHING BY MOUTH TO AN UNCONSCIOUS PERSON. IF SWOLLOWED DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. IF VOMITING OCCURS KEEP AIRWAY CLEAR. GIVE LARGE AMOUNTS OF WATER TO DILUTE THE AMMONIA. SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDATELY.
