The Weyerhaeuser Company New Bern Pulp Mill is committed to operating in a manner that is safe for our employees, community and environment. One component of this commitment is a comprehensive Risk Management Program that complies with EPA regulation 40 CFR part 68, (RMP Rile). This document is submitted to satisfy the RMP Plan requirements of the RMP rule, and provide the public with a description of the facility Risk management Program. Based on RMP rule criteria this facility is classified as a Tier 1 Program, with propane being the only regulated chemical. There have been no reportable accidental releases within the last 5 years. The storage tanks are compliant with API standard 2510. An off-site consequential analysis was performed using appropriate EPA Look-up Tables, and there are no off-site consequences. The facility has a written Emergency Response Program, and maintains close ties to local fire departments and the county LEPC. The mill also maintains an emergency response team, and all employees are trained in evacuation procedures. |
