ACCIDENTAL RELEASE PREVENTION AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE POLICIES: at A&K Feed & Grain Inc in Lime Springs, IA.  This facility complies with NFAP-58 requirements for Anhydrous Ammonia storage and it is our policy to adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local laws.  If an emergency were to occure, it is our policy to notify the Lime Springs Fire Department and the Howard County LEPC and request that they respond to the emergency.                                                                                  
 
DESCRIPTION OF THE FACILITY: The regulated substance handled is anhydrous Ammonia.  A&K Feed and Grain is a grain facility also providing seed, chemiicals and fertilizers to area customers for the husbandry of crop production.   The Anyhdrous Tank can store 18,000 gals @90% equal to 16,200 gals when full.  This tank is located at A&K Feed & Grain Site #3 - located at the South edge of town on private property of A&K Feed & Grain outside of the City Limits of Lime Springs, IA. 
 
 
WORST CASE SCENARIO:  The worst case scenario is a the failure of equipment, resulting in toxic release, overfilling or a tornado.  According to EPA' look-up tables, the distance to the endpoint is 5.4 miles. There are private homes, a school and public county park within the distance to the endpoint, with a total population of 400 people. 
 
GENERAL ACCIDENTAL RELEASE PREVENTION PROGRAM & CHEMICAL SPECIFIC PREVENTION STEPS: 
This facility complies with EPAs accident prevention rule and all applicable state and local codes and regulations.  The Anhydrous tank is designed, installed and maintainted in accordance with NFPA-58 and state law. 
 
FIVE YEAR ACCIDENT HISTORY:  A&K Feed & Grain Co, Inc has never had an accident involving Anhydrous that caused death, injuries, property or environmental damage, evactuations or shelterings in place 
 
EMERGENCY RESPONSE PROGRAM:  In the event of an emergency involving our Anhydrous tank, it is our policy to notify the Lime Springs Fire Department and  
the Howard County LEPC.  We have discussed this policy with them and sent copies of our contingency plant to both the Fire Department and the Howard County LEPC.  The Fire Department has inspected the facilites.  
 
PLANNED CHANGES TO IMPROVE SAFETY:  Continue to Update Contigency plan as need and continue with safety schools and updates with employees.
